Californians push to add sports betting vote to November ballot
The California sports betting legalization push has the backing and funding from seven U.S. sportsbooks, FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting & Gaming, Bally’s, Wynn, and Penn National. The initiative announced Tuesday it had gathered 1.6 million signatures which is half a million more than needed to qualify for the ballot. The sportsbooks have already funded over $100 million to the online campaign with the plan calling for a 10% tax rate and an upfront licensing fee of $100 million for operators and those operators must be licensed in 10 states to qualify.
