Houston Mogul Receives Approval To Build Las Vegas Strip Casino

The Houston billionaire, Tillman Fertitta, has just been given approval from Clark County commissioners to develop a new hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Fertitta has been the owner of the Golden Nugget which recently sold its online gaming branch to DraftKings for $1.56 billion. The deal led to Fertitta becoming an active member on DraftKings board as well as one of their largest shareholders. The proposed casino would be a 43-story high-rise with over 2,400 rooms located on the southeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Ave. The project is expected to be completed in two years.

Louisiana Sports Betting Revenue Jumps As Football Starts

Louisiana finally saw its first full month of college football sports betting and as a result revenue has spiked, bringing in around $4 millions in fees for September. This boost bring the total year to dat tax revenue for sports betting to $22 million with the state now expected to surpass its original $30 million projection. The Gaming Control Board has also recently approved the sports betting operator WynnBet for a five-year deal.

Kansas Sports Betting Revenue Pulls $160M In First Month

In just the first month since sports betting launched in Kansas, the state has reported a sports betting handle $160 million for September. Of the sports betting operators, DraftKings was the most used pulling $74.2 million, FanDuel followed in second with $35 million, and BetMGM took third with $27.9 million. Barstool Sportsbook, Caesars, and PointsBet all trailed after with $10.7m, $6m, and $1.3m respectively. This is a very solid opening when compared to Arizona’s first month of $486 million as Kansas’ market is only 17% the size of Arizona’s.
