Sunday Ticket Still Up For Grabs, Apple Pushes For Flexibility

As DirectTV’s Sunday Ticket deal comes to a close, the NFL has still not announced who will be the next company to head its fabled event. The decision comes mainly between three companies, Apple, Amazon, and Disney with each submitting their bids to acquire the rights. Amazon recently acquired Thursday Night Football bringing the broadcast streams to Amazon Prime Video and Twitch while Disney owns ESPN. That brings us to Apple who has no previous connections to the NFL meaning a new partnership would form a new relationship between the two giants. Ohio Begins Issuing Sportsbook Licenses

As sports betting in Ohio gets closer and closer to their January 1, 2023 launch day, a few operators have already been pre-approved. Five licenses have been distributed so far with big names like bet365, FanDuel, and Caesars already preparing for launch. There were ten total applications submitted for an October, 5 deadline but the five have still been yet to be decided but missing the deadline would cause the sportsbook to miss the January 1 launch. When launched Ohio will be open to both retail and online sports betting after the passing of HB 29.

Fanatics Unveils Plans To Enter Sports Gambling Industry

The mega sports retailer, Fanatics, has announced that they want to continue their venture into the sports gambling with the CEO stating the company will be available in 15 to 20 states by the 2023 NFL season. The details for their product show that they want to create a personalized user experience, offering incentives to purchase merchandise, game, and receive collectibles. It will be interesting to watch this play out as Fanatics is entering an already crowded sector with companies like DraftKings and FanDuel having a firm grip on the market.
