BetMGM has launched its mobile sports betting app in Puerto Rico in collaboration with Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort. This marks the second market outside of the U.S. mainland where BetMGM has introduced its mobile sports betting app.
Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, expressed excitement about being the first operator to offer mobile sports betting in Puerto Rico. The partnership between local officials and Casino del Mar enables the delivery of a safe, responsible, and entertaining product accessible from anywhere on the island.
The BetMGM app provides Puerto Rico residents with a user-friendly experience, allowing them to customize pre-game, live in-play, futures, and parlay wagers. During the registration process on the mobile app, customers in Puerto Rico are required to validate their identification in person at the BetMGM Sportsbook located at Casino Del Mar in San Juan. Integration with the MGM Rewards loyalty program enables residents to redeem their gameplay for exceptional experiences at MGM Resorts properties nationwide.
BetMGM was the first operator to introduce regulated retail sports betting in Puerto Rico when it became legalized in February 2022. In December 2022, Casino del Mar opened a permanent sportsbook and lounge featuring self-service kiosks and betting windows. Sports wagering in Puerto Rico is permitted on a wide range of events, including professional, collegiate, Olympic, international, electronic, and Esports.
Sigfrido De Jesús, General Manager of Casino del Mar, emphasized the positive impact of this collaboration on revenue and expressed pride in being pioneers in the sports wagering industry. The technological alliance with BetMGM has facilitated innovation in the betting industry and elevated the sports experience in Puerto Rico.
As BetMGM expands to new jurisdictions, responsible gambling education remains a priority. BetMGM provides resources for customers to play responsibly, including GameSense, an industry-leading program licensed from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
