DraftKings emerged as the leader in the Massachusetts sports betting market during the market’s first month post-launch, capturing 46.9% of sports betting handle, while generating $16.1m in gross gaming revenue (GGR). FanDuel, with a higher hold rate of 9%, was able to secure slightly higher GGR of $16.3m, with a smaller proportion of handle at $186.7m, or 33.1% of the total. BetMGM took third place with $7.4m in GGR from $46.9m in bets. Massachusetts has an impressive roster of professional sports teams, which contributed to the high level of bets per adult in the state. DraftKings is estimated to have accounted for the majority of bonus spending, while Boston was the most targeted media market among leading sports betting brands in March.

New Jersey Online Gambling Revenue Reaches Record High in March 2023

Online gambling revenue in New Jersey reached a new high in March, with online casinos and poker generating $165.7m, an increase of 8.4% from the previous monthly high of $152.8m in January. Year-on-year, revenue in March 2023 was up by 17.8% compared to the same month in 2022, with online gambling generating $461.2m in the first quarter of 2023, a 12.9% increase from the same period in 2022. According to data from the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement, online gambling revenue accounted for 38% of March’s total gambling revenue reported by Atlantic City casinos and their digital partners. State gaming regulators do not separate out individual online gambling operators, so determining revenue from specific websites or mobile apps is not possible.

Galaxy Entertainment Group’s upcoming Phase 3 and 4 of the Galaxy Macau resort will enhance its ability to gain market share in Macau, according to Credit Suisse analysts. The new amenities and increasing connectivity between the resort’s phases should underpin the company’s long-term growth, while the addition of non-gaming elements and capacity will further strengthen its position. Phase 3 will introduce a Raffles hotel, Andaz Macau hotel, and a Galaxy International Convention Center, while Phase 4, expected to open in 2025, is seen as more lifestyle-focused. Upon completion, there could be increased connectivity between all phases, the analysts said.
