5 Million Visitors to Macau During the first quarter of 2023

The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has reported that almost five million visitors traveled to Macau during the first quarter of 2023, with approximately six in 10 visitors coming from mainland China, 30% from Hong Kong, and the remaining 10% from Taiwan and foreign markets. Macau is open to international travelers, but those not originating from China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan must still present a negative COVID-19 test for entry. The gross gaming revenue for the six casino licensees in Macau has also improved during this period, with last month marking Macau’s richest monthly gaming performance since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2019. Circa Sports Illinois Sets Timeline For Sportsbook Launch

Circa Sports, a Las Vegas-based sportsbook founded by Derek Stevens in 2019, is awaiting full operation approval in Illinois after applying for a Management Services Provider license in May 2022. However, the company has announced a partnership with Full House Resorts Inc. to open a Circa Sportsbook in the near future at The Temporary by American Place, a state-of-the-art casino and resort in Waukegan. Circa Sports is also planning to launch its online sportsbook in Q3 of 2023, pending final legislative approval. In Nevada, Circa Sports is considered the premier in-person sportsbook destination with its state-of-the-art Stadium Swim and top-notch odds. The company hopes to win in the Illinois market by allowing sharp bettors and competing on price instead of promos.

International Game Technology (IGT), a provider of gaming equipment, has expanded its sports betting operations in the United States. The company has secured its first sports betting technology contract in New Mexico, providing odds-making services to the Pueblo of Santa Ana tribe at the Santa Ana Star Casino. IGT has installed its sports wagering platform and betting kiosks, replacing another sports betting company’s technology. The company has also signed a three-year contract extension with the Rhode Island Lottery to continue providing sports betting technology to Bally’s Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort, Bally’s Tiverton Casino & Hotel, and the Sportsbook Rhode Island mobile app.
