More Americans plan to bet on the NCAA men’s Basketball Tournament than on the Super Bow

According to a survey by the American Gaming Association, more Americans plan to bet on the NCAA men’s basketball tournament than on the Super Bowl. The survey suggests that 68 million American adults plan to wager $15.5 billion on the tournament, with 31 million planning to place a traditional sports wager online, at a retail sportsbook, or with a bookie. Additionally, 56.3 million plan to participate in a bracket contest, and 21.5 million plan to bet casually with friends. Kentucky is the most popular choice to win the national title (9 percent), followed by Texas A&M (8 percent), and Gonzaga, UCLA, and Alabama (6 percent). Kentucky Sports Betting Bill Moving To House Floor After Approval

House Bill HB 551, which was introduced by Rep. Michael Meredith in February, has been approved by the committee and will now move to the House floor before potentially moving to the Senate. The bill will allow the state’s nine horse racing tracks to open retail sportsbooks and offer sports betting at their off-track historical gaming venues. It also makes provisions for mobile sports betting in Kentucky by allowing each track to partner with a recognized mobile sports betting provider. Speaking during committee testimony, the bill’s co-sponsor Rep. Al Gentry said: “Kentucky residents are participating in that activity already; they’re either doing illegally or simply going across the border and spending their discretionary dollars there.
