Las Vegas Sands has opened its $2 billion British-themed Londoner Casino in Macau

Las Vegas Sands has opened its $2 billion British-themed Londoner Casino in Macau. CEO Robert Goldstein stated that the company’s investment in Macau is likely to far exceed the amount pledged as part of the recent concession process. The $3 billion to $4 billion of pledged investment is considered “irrelevant” compared to what the company plans to spend in Macau. Goldstein emphasized that the company’s actions demonstrate their commitment. Revenues from Macau rose 132% year-over-year to $1.28 billion, and Macau property EBITDA returned to profit at $398 million. The Londoner features five hotels, nearly 6,000 rooms, and iconic British landmarks such as Big Ben and the House of Parliament. Analysts noted that investors are currently focused on concerns such as China’s macro environment, a slowing luxury retail market, and the potential for new virus variants in Macau. However, they believe that travel and leisure demand will remain robust despite short-lived bouts of uncertainty, drawing parallels to the reopening of the US market.
