Business Mogul and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has just unveiled massive new plans that could give Dallas and Texas an economic uproar, bringing legalized gambling and sports betting to the Lone Star State. A quote from Mark Cuban about the plans states, “My goal, and we’d partner with Las Vegas Sands, is when we build a new arena it’ll be in the middle of a resort and casino… That’s the mission.” Though Texas has continued to push against legal sports betting and gaming, every major sports franchise is already a member of the Sports Betting Alliance, however Cuban is the first owner to publicly announce his desire to partner with a casino. Even the Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta whose company, Landry’s Inc., owns Golden Nugget casinos in five states but hasn’t publicly announced anything. A new filing has been made though that if passed will allow Texas voters to vote on legalized sports betting as well as the creation of the Texas Gaming Commission. The new idea of a resort, casino, and a stadium would prove massively beneficial for Texas as it would bring billions of dollars to the state as well as boosting tourism. Another quote from Mark Cuban states, “Texas is such an amazing state that we need to be a destination… There’s a reason why Vegas is Vegas. And it’s not just gambling; there’s gambling in a lot of places. It’s the fact there’s resorts for families, for bachelorette and bachelor parties, for conventions…” If legislators and voters share the same vision of Mark Cuban, Texas could skyrocket to one of if not the largest gaming capitols in the U.S.
