Maryland Expands Mobile Sports Wagering with 10 Approved Apps, Including Fanatics

Maryland now has a total of 10 approved mobile sports wagering apps operating in the state, with Fanatics being the newest addition. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission has granted a mobile sports wagering license to Maryland Stadium Sub, LLC, which operates as Fanatics Sportsbook. In addition to the mobile sports betting apps, Maryland also has 10 retail sports wagering facilities. However, the majority of fan bets are placed through the mobile apps. In April, the sportsbooks in Maryland processed over $328.4 million in bets, with approximately 95.4% of the total coming from mobile apps. Of the total wagers, the state’s share was $3.9 million, which is allocated to the Blueprint for Maryland Future Fund, supporting public education programs. Players in Maryland won prizes totaling $292.8 million from both mobile and retail bets in April. Maryland’s sports wagering market launched in December 2021 with five retail locations. The first seven mobile sportsbooks became available in November 2022. So far, these mobile sportsbooks have contributed a total of $20.7 million to the Blueprint for Maryland fund. Alongside Fanatics, the other approved mobile sportsbooks in Maryland are Barstool Sportsbook, Betfred Sportsbook, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet, and SuperBook. In addition to the five Maryland casinos, there are additional retail betting sites, including Bingo World in Brooklyn Park, Greenmount Station in Hampstead, Long Shot’s in Frederick, FedEx Field, and Riverboat on the Potomac in Charles County.
