Illinois Sportsbooks Handled Almost $10 Billion In Bets For 2022

Illinois has been making huge numbers in 2022, almost reaching $10 billion in legal sportsbooks handle and their new December numbers mark their third consecutive month of $1 billion in sports betting handle. This makes them just the fourth state with a billion dollar handle after New York, New Jersey, and Nevada. The total handle for 2022 was $9,751,301,251 ranking it the third highest in the U.S. The numbers also show an increase of sports betting handle by 82% since August which has $565 million. Illinois ranked second in gross gaming revenue with over $806 million. Overall the Prairie State has shown that its here to stay showing positive growth throughout 2022 and breaking the one billion mark multiple times.

New Bill Brings Life To Internet Gaming In Illinois

Online casinos in Illinois are becoming more of a reality for Prairie state if a new bill sponsored by State Senator Cristina Castro is passed. On Wednesday The Internet Gaming Act SB1656 was filed with the Illinois General Assembly. Details of the bill show that it would authorize internet gaming operators in accordance with the act to launch their platforms. The bill calls for a licensing fee of $250,000, $100,000 to renew and plans to tax operators 15% of adjusted gross gaming revenue. The bill also plans to only allow three individuals branded internet gaming skins.

AGA Posts Record Breaking Super Bowl Wager Estimates

New numbers from a survey taken by the American Gaming Association (AGA) are showing that this could be a record breaking Super Bowl for sports betting. The numbers show that an estimated 50.3 million people plan to place a wager on Super Bowl LVII which would put the estimated handle for the game at around $16 billion. A recent survey taken by the AGA shows that 34% of viewers believe that the inclusion of legal gambling has made NFL games more enjoyable to watch and with all the new state legalizations in 2022, the big game will have more bettors than ever before.
