New York’s online sports betting market is performing well and has exceeded expectations for the year 2023. The handle for the first three months of the year is over $5 billion, which is $206.3 million ahead of last year’s pace. The state has also generated over $50 million more in tax revenue than in the same period last year. FanDuel Sportsbook NY has broken industry records for the highest betting total in a single month, while DraftKings Sportsbook NY posted the second-highest total. It is expected that NY sports betting will soon surpass $2 billion in lifetime gross gaming revenue and $1 billion in state tax revenue. The NCAA Tournament hosted in New York has likely contributed to these record-breaking numbers, but it remains to be seen how sports betting in April will fare with the NBA and NHL playoffs and MLB season underway.
