MGM Resorts' Table Games new rules allowing guests to take photos and videos

MGM Resorts’ Table Games Operations Department has implemented new rules allowing guests to take photos and videos at its Las Vegas casinos, according to a memo obtained by Casino.org. The policy, set to launch in May 2023, aims to enable guests to capture and share content in real or near real-time on social media while limiting associated risks.

Under the new rules, players will not be able to use video or their devices in a way that affects gameplay. However, they will be allowed to engage in activities previously prohibited at table games. While MGM is relaxing etiquette rules, certain guidelines remain in place. Players cannot leave objects on the table for an extended period, have prolonged phone conversations while seated, or record gaming equipment such as card shufflers, card shoes, roulette wheels, and surveillance cameras.

Text messaging and brief phone calls are permitted as long as they do not disrupt gameplay. Players must avoid capturing other players or MGM employees in their photos and videos, and audio recording of the game, playing music, or other audio from devices is not allowed. Streaming live video from a table game requires prior permission from MGM.

Unlike MGM, Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts, among other Strip operators, currently do not permit the use of phones or devices at the tables. MGM’s decision aligns with the increasing popularity of gambling-related content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
