According to numbers from GeoComply, the first 12 months of sports betting combined for over 3.79 million accounts created and 1.25 billion geolocation checks with GeoComply going on to note, New York’s size aptly reflected these numbers. A quote from GeoComply SVP Compliance states, “The most satisfying result of New York’s success is that millions of players have gravitated to accountable legal betting options that provide meaningful protections and are significant contributors to the state economy.” In total bettors combing for over $16 billion in handle which led to more the $1 billion gross gaming revenue, almost $700 million in state revenue tax.
